The Akron Area Interfaith Council hosted its annual awards event on the evening of March 28, with a theme of “Spring Into Hope.” Approximately 120 people were in attendance.
The event program included multiple calls to prayer from various faiths, as well as the return of the AAIC Harmony Chorus, a choir that is made up of people from 12 local churches. The choir sang three musical numbers about peace, unity, and goodwill among faiths.
Receiving the AAIC Award this year was South Street Ministries, a non-profit organization that serves the South Akron neighborhood. The organization has done 18 years of programming and ministry among some of Akron’s poorest residents.
Various musical numbers were shared during the event. The evening ended with a performance of gospel music by The Gospel Wonders of Akron.
