Who Can Serve?… I Can! You Can! We Can!

The Massillon Ward had another successful Food Drive during the month of September. Their ward has created working relationships with the Stark County Hunger Task Force and S.A.L.T. Box Ministries of Canal Fulton, and the food and money collected were donated to those two charities. The Massillon Ward works with S.A.L.T. Box Ministries to provide and serve a hot meal to needy members in the community on a regular basis. Helen Casciere, the ward public affairs representative, said of this year’s campaign, “We collected approximately 875 pounds of food and personal care items and at least $685 for our charity recipients.” The month’s efforts ended with a dinner at the ward building on September 29th where the donated food and money was gathered, weighed, and then sent with representatives directly to their charities. The food for the dinner was donated by BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse through Massillon Ward member Julie Cooper who is the Director of Operations for the restaurant. Eight representatives from the Stark County Hunger Task Force and S.A.L.T. Box Ministries attended the dinner with ward members.

Approximately 17 individuals/families from the ward participated in the food drive, and approximately 70 people attended the dinner, including the 8 guests from our charity recipient organizations.
