Primary Happenings

By President Diane Burgoon, Stake Primary

This year the theme for Primary is IMG_0620“I am a Child of God.”  We want the children to understand their divine parentage and realize that they were created in the image of their Father in Heaven.  Knowing that they are joint heirs with Christ should instill in them a desire to follow the gospel path.  We should all take responsibility, whether as parents, family members, teachers or acquaintances to show, not just children, but one another, that we each have infinite worth.  Jesus Christ loved and taught all, no matter their station in life.   We should strive to do the same.

To help the children recognize the presence of their Heavenly Father, they may be asked in Primary to share ways that they have recognized that God knows and loves them.  As they share they may place an object in a jar to show, over the course of the year, the many ways that God is in their lives.  Please take the time to help them recognize these moments.

This theme isn’t just for the Primary children.  We all need to remember that we are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.  Sometimes we may forget that concept when life brings us challenges and we struggle to have hope.  Faith in Jesus Christ and the knowledge that we can have eternal life should be the foundation that sees us through each day.

Also this year, we are asking the Activity Day Girls and Cub Scouts to participate in a project to make items for area pet shelters and for the children’s hospital.  We hope they have fun making the following:

If you have any fleece that you would like to donate, please drop it off with your Ward Primary Presidency.

Our other big event this year will be to again hold the 11-Year-Old scout camp.  It was a great success last year and we hope to have a great turnout again this year.  The tentative dates are July 12th and 13th.
