To minister is any act of service done in genuine love for another.
There is a song that expresses our love and service to our ancestors, “They Are My Family,” words and music by Angie Killian
When I hear the stories of those who came before me.
And of their faith and diligence. It gives me strength to be my best
And when I see their pictures or hold our family treasures
My heart can feel their love for me; They are my family
I will try to find them So Priesthood keys can bind them
To make a chain family that last through all eternity.
And someday when I meet them. With open arms, I’ll greet them
For I will know them instantly. They are my family.
Let us be about “ministering” to our ancestors on the other side. President Ezra Taft Benson said: “Sometimes the veil between this life and the life beyond becomes very thin. Our loved ones who have passed on are not far from us” (in Conference Report, April 1971).
