Stake Update
As mentioned last month, for the next round of self-reliance groups we are working with the Ward and Branch Leaders to host localized Devotionals to facilitate bringing the blessings of these groups closer to each of you. This localized approach will allow for each Ward and Branch Council to customize their timing and approach to best meet their needs. Although the actual timing will vary by unit, we expect groups will begin again over the coming months. Check with your local leaders for details.
Principle #9 – Communicate: Petition and Listen
“Your soul will be blessed as you learn to listen, then listen to learn from children, parents, partners, neighbors, and Church leaders…” The purpose of both temporal and spiritual self-reliance is to get ourselves on higher ground so that we can lift others in need.”
President Russell M. Nelson,
“Listen to Learn,” Ensign, May 1991
Invitation
1) Identify a few important conversations you’d like to have (including personal prayers)
2) Practice the steps of active listening: 1) Concentrate, 2) Appreciate, 3) Review, 4) Ask
3) Reflect on how those conversations went; what have you learned
