Clarifying Missionary Dinner Policy

Two months ago, missionaries in the Ohio Columbus Mission decided to no longer participate in member meals unless there is a nonmember present. This was a difficult decision for our missionaries because they Love being in members’ homes, getting to know them, and enjoying a meal together. I am humbled by our missionary’s willingness to sacrifice something very important to them (member meals) as an offering to the Lord, to show HIM their love and devotion, and their willingness to do anything He asks to gather his children. I have received reports that since this new meal policy was instituted, church members are not together with our missionaries as often as they previously were. This is not what was intended with the new policy. In fact, I want our missionaries and members to be together more frequently than before. Our missionaries need our wonderful church members, and I know you want to help gather Israel. The missionaries will bring a powerful spirit into your home, and they are prepared to lead a spirit-filled discussion and be in and out of your home in 20 minutes. They will help you overcome the fear of doing missionary work, and you will discover how to help, in normal and natural ways. I invite every church member to reach out to the missionaries currently serving on your ward or branch and invite them into your home for a 20-minute visit. I promise you will feel the Spirit, and you will be blessed, as these missionaries come into your home. I am humbled and blessed to be able to serve with the best missionaries, and church members, anywhere in the world.

Gospel Love,

President Val Stratford
